truth
He who does not bellow the truth when he knows the truth makes himself the accomplice of liars and forgers.

truth
An honest man speaks the truth, though it may give offence; a vain man, in order that it may.

neutrality
And it will always happen that he who is not your friend will request your neutrality and he who is your friend will ask you to declare yourself by taking up arms. And irresolute princes, in order to avoid present dangers, follow the neutral road most of the time, and most of the time they are ruined.

sex
The difference between sex for money and sex for free, he writes, is that sex for money always costs a lot less.

gambling/investing
A given man lives a life free from boredom by gambling a small sum every day. Give him every morning the money he might win that day, but on condition that he does not gamble, and you will make him unhappy. It might be argued that what he wants is the entertainment of gaming and not the winnings. Make him play then for nothing; his interest will not be fired and he will become bored, so it is not entertainment he wants. A half-hearted entertainment, he must delude himself into imagining that he would be happy to win what he would not want as a gift if it meant giving up gambling.

know, known, knowns, unknown, unknowns
There are known knowns. There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don’t know.
